13.1 Non-registered Luggage/Commercial Goods
Commercial goods (i.e. samples, tools, furniture, assortments and the like), which are carried in cars, luggage trailers etc. shall be charged according to freight rates. On every standard fare an adult passenger is allowed to bring up to 50 kg of personal belongings (non-registered luggage) free of charge and a child is allowed to bring up to 25 kg. The passenger is responsible for informing DFDS Seaways of luggage/personal belongings exceeding the above-mentioned limits. DFDS Seaways shall not be liable for the passenger’s failure to comply with the said requirements. At the request of DFDS Seaways and/or the customs authorities passengers are obligated to report the art and quantity of his/her luggage and /or commercial goods. DFDS Seaways reserves the right to reject or report as commercial goods, for which freight is payable, any luggage carried contrary to the said conditions. This applies especially to any type of luggage exceeding the allowed quantity per vehicle as well as to commercial goods, which do not belong to a passenger or are intended for resale/further process. Passengers are obligated to declare luggage and commercial goods in accordance with applicable law in the port of arrival. If the passenger fails to comply with import regulations, the authorities may retain the luggage and/or the commercial goods until it has been declared. Please note, that import of luggage and commercial goods against import regulations is a criminal offence. DFDS Seaways shall not be liable for payment of any duties or fines imposed on a passenger.
