Getting to/from the Copenhagen term​​inal

From Copenhagen Airport to city center

By metro - To Nørreport Station​

The metro station at the airport is located in the end of terminal 3. Take the escalator or elevator up to 2 nd floor.
All metro trains go in the same direction from the airport (M2 line to Vanløse Station) - so you do not have to worry about getting on the wrong train. The trains run with 4 - 6 minutes intervals during the day and evening. During the night the train runs every 15 - 20 minutes. It will take you 13 minutes to get to Nørreport Station (hub in city centre) from the airport.
Metro and train tickets can be bought from ticket machines and from the train ticket sales counters in terminal 3. Please note that the machines only accept coins and credit cards, not notes. You will need a ticket for 3 zones from airport to city centre. Minimum number of zones is 2.

From Nørreport you can take the DFDS transfer bus

By train

The train platforms with trains bound for Copenhagen are located in the terminal 3 building - Take the elevator or escalator down to floor -1 and train platform 2. (Arriving at another terminal? - You can take a free shuttle bus from terminal 1 to terminal 3, which will take 5 minutes)
Trains bound for Copenhagen run every 10 minutes during the day, with13 minutes travel time. During the night the trains run 1-3 times an hour. Check the monitors for departure times.

Train tickets can be bought from ticket machines and the DSB ticket sales counters, located in terminal 3. 
Please note that the machines only accept coins and credit cards, not notes.
Train tickets can be used on Metro and bus in the valid time period (60 - 90 mins. Check your ticket).

By taxi

Upon arrival at Copenhagen aiport, Kastrup: There are taxis outside the arrival hall. It takes about 20 min to get to central Copenhagen and the terminal, by taxi. You can also order your taxi on telephone: (+45) 35 35 35 35​

There is a DFDS transfer bus departing from the city center near Nørreport station.

Going to Copenhagen City center from Copenhagen terminal

By DFDS transfer bus from terminal to Nørreport Station (city center)

It's easy and convenient to take the DFDS transfer bus to Copenhagen city center/Nørreport Station from the terminal. The transfer bus stop is located to the right (50 m) outside the terminal building, when standing in front, with your back to the terminal building.
Travel time 10 min. Please show your boarding card or booking confirmation on the bus.

By transfer bus to Tivoli /Axeltorv (city center)

Buy a transfer bus ticket from the terminal to the city center - Tivoli entrance/Axeltorv in advance. The option is available in the booking flow when you buy your cruise online.
The buses are marked ‘DFDS Tivoli/Axeltorv’ and you find them about 50 m to the right when you exit the terminal.

By Taxi

There are two taxi lanes in front of the DFDS Copenhagen terminal building. You can always order a taxi on (+45) 35 35 35 35. Cost: approx. 90 DKK to city center (Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn) ​​

The Oslo terminal is located in the city center. The cruise terminal connects Oslo, the capital of Norway with Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark when travelling on the Copenhagen - Oslo cruise route.

From Oslo terminal to city center 

By bus

Bus No. 60 departs from the DFDS terminal, at Vippetangen, to the city centre, approximately every 20 minutes.
A bus leaves around 15 minutes after you arrive in Oslo at 09.45, giving you plenty of time.

From Oslo city center to terminal

By bus

Take bus 60 from Oslo S to Vippetangen. Bus 60 stops outside “Jernbanetorvets Apotek” – the Central Station's pharmacy, opposite to the entrance of the shopping mall “Byporten.” 
Bus 60 departs approximately every 20 minutes and it takes about 5 minutes to the terminal at Vippetangen.
Please note: get off at “Fiskehallen,” which is the last stop.​

By foot

If you choose to walk to the terminal, turn left when facing Karl Johan street and walk towards “Havnelageret” which is a large pink building. Cross over the E18 after approximately 150 metres, by using one of the crossing walkway bridges. From the bridge you will to see our cruise ferry, and the signs marked with “Gangvei til fergene” / “Walkway towards the ships”.

If you are situated in the area of Akerbrygge, follow the seaside road that leads around the large fortress.
Both walks take around 15 - 20 minutes.

DFDS Amsterdam terminal is located in the suburb Ijmuiden, located on the outskirts of Amsterdam. 
The Amsterdam terminal is ideally located close to Amsterdam's excellent motorways, making it the ideal gateway into Europe, especially from Scotland and the Northeast of England. ​

Getting to the terminal by car

When you’re on the A9 coming from Amsterdam, Den Haag, Haarlem, or Alkmaar you take the turn to Ijmuiden. Then drive next to the channel and go right on the ‘Pontplein’ so you still drive with the channel on your right. Drive through, under the viaduct and at the roundabout go right. Now you’re driving on the ‘Halkade’, follow this road until you arrive at the Felison Terminal. ​

Getting to the terminal by bus

In co-operation with a local coach firm, DFDS provides a connecting coach service between the terminal, Felison Terminal, IJmuiden, and the Central Railway Station in Amsterdam. On days of departure coaches leave the central station between 15.00 and 16.00. ​See more information about the transfer bus here 

Getting to the terminal by taxi

As Ijmuiden is a small village there are not many taxis.
Furthermore they do not always wait for the arrival of the ship, so it is best to order taxis in advance using one of the numbers below. Please note: taxi journeys are rather expensive in Holland - a taxi from the port into Central Amsterdam costs around €60 each way.

Ijmuiden - Amsterdam train connections

Train services are a less convenient method of transport for getting to Amsterdam city center. The nearest Train station is Haarlem Central, you can reach this station by bus from IJmuiden. First take bus ‘74’ to ‘Plein 1945’ and then at this point take bus ‘75’ to ‘Haarlem Centraal’. For more details on train travel in Holland see more here. ​

Getting to the terminal by car

From Newcastle City Center. Take the A1 towards Morpeth and then the A19 towards the Tyne Tunnel. On approach to the Tunnel, follow the International Ferry symbol onto the A187 towards North Shields. Continue along this road to the roundabout, take the second exit to the International Ferry Terminal, Royal Quays.

From the North: Head for the Tyne Tunnel via the A19, then follow the directions as above.

From the South: Approach via the A19 towards the Tyne Tunnel. Once through the Tunnel, join the A187 and proceed as above. Please Note: Drivers approaching from the South should allow extra time during the summer months when the tunnel can be extremely busy. 

Getting to the terminal by bus

Newcastle Central Station is about 20 minutes by bus from the port. A DFDS transfer bus leaves from Newcastle Bewick Street (opposite Central Station) before each sailing. 

There are two DFDS bus departures for each sailing; The first departure is at 14:45 and the second 15:45, one hour 15 minutes before departure. Pre-purchase a bus ticket online when booking your cruise, or when you board.

Getting to the terminal by Metro

There are 60 Metro stations throughout Tyne & Wear including Newcastle City Centre and Newcastle Central Station. Take the yellow line to Percy Main station. The terminal is a 15-20 minute walk. Do not alight at North Shields as this is not the nearest station. Visit the Metro website for further information and timetables.

Car Parking

The car park at North Shields is operated by Port of Tyne. On arrival, follow the signs for the secure car park, which is located on the right hand side as you drive down the road. From here the International Passenger Terminal is only a short walk.  If you need to drop people and luggage off first, do this directly outside the terminal before entering the car park. ​

The Dover Eastern Docks is one of the busiest ferry docks in the world and is very easy to find and to get to. Please note that DFDS does not accept foot passengers on the Dover-Dunkirk route.

Getting to the terminal by car
Situated at the end of the A2 main road from London and close by the main M20 motorway from London, access to the terminal is clearly signposted on your arrival at Dover.

The terminal at Dover is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. On arrival at the terminal just follow the signs through frontier control and then follow the signs for DFDS  check in booths.
If you arrive without buying a ticket in advance, you still need to go through passport control. Please note that we do not accept foot passengers on the Dover-Dunkirk route.

From A25 Lille: Join the A16, direction Calais. From A16 Dunkerque/Belgium: Take exit 53 (24). Follow signs ‘Port Rapide/Car Ferry’. From St Omer: The D600 crosses the A16 direct to the Terminal.
From Dunkerque Centre: Follow​ signs for Calais - either A16 to exit 53 (24) or on RN1 follow signs to ‘Loon Plage/Car Ferry’.​​

Getting to the Calais terminal by car 

The Port of Calais is directly connected to the European motorway network via two auto routes:The A26/E15 serves the center of France and provides access to Paris and Southern Europe.
​The A16/E40 feeds into the Benelux and Northern Europe motorway systems and the A16/E402 to Boulogne and Normandy.

Car parking

There is a free of charge public car park in front of the Terminal building (Calais). ​Please advise that this is an unsecured car park and owners leave their vehicles there at their own risk. Cars can be parked near ticket office as there are staff in this area 24 hours a day ​

Getting to the terminal by car 

Dieppe is only 121 miles northwest of Paris and 41 miles from Rouen. Follow the directions from Rouen city centre along the left bank of the River Seine out of the city and onto the N27. Upon crossing the A29 Motorway, follow the directions on the N27 towards Dieppe. The ferry terminal is well sign-posted from the edge of the town.

Getting to the terminal​ by bus

Regular bus services are operated from Dieppe to other major French towns and cities.
A shuttle bus operates between Dieppe ferry terminal, town centre and train station for a €2 fare (timetable includes Sundays & public holidays, shuttle bus only available during high season).
Monday to Sunday:
- Departure from the ferry terminal at 15.00
- Departure from the train station either at 16.00 or 17.00 depending on the day

By Rail

The SNCF train station is located in the center of the town. Upon exiting the station, follow the road straight ahead with the quay on your right. Turn right at the Tourist Information Centre over 2 bridges and follow the harbour wall to your left. The Transmanche Ferry terminal is 500 yards away. ​

Newhaven is the closest port to London, located on the south coast of England, at the mouth of the river Ouse. Newhaven ferry port is the easiest and closest link to Dieppe in France.

Getting to the terminal by car 

Only 64 miles from London, 10 miles east of Brighton, or 15 miles west of Eastbourne. If travelling from Brighton, travel east along the A27 past Lewes and take the A26 to Newhaven. Once in Newhaven follow the signs to Newhaven Ferry Port.

By Bus

Regular buses (operated by South Coast Buses / Brighton & Hove) arrive and depart daily from Brighton, Peacehaven, Seaford, Bexhill, Folkestone, Dover, Rye, and Hastings. National Express also operates a regular coach service to and from Newhaven.

By Train

The train station is only yards from the terminal. Trains from Seaford and Lewes/Brighton, and national services run frequently between London and Newhaven.​

Getting to the terminal by car

Coming from the direction of Hamburg

Drive towards Flensburg via highway A7. At the highway triangle Bordesholm, from A7 head towards A215 Blumenthal/Kiel. Follow the road signs for Ostuferhafen/Klaipėda to exit highway A215. From this point on, follow the road signs.

Coming from the direction of Flensburg

Drive towards Hamburg via highway A7. At the highway crossroad Rendsburg, from A7 head towards A210 Kiel/Bredenbek. At the highway crossroad Kiel-West, turn from A210 towards A215. Follow the road signs of Ostuferhafen/Klaipėda to exit highway A215. From this point on, follow the road signs.

Getting to the terminal by train
Head for the central railway station in Kiel, take the number 11 going toward Dietrichsdorf and get off at the Grenzstrasse bus stop. You can then take a taxi from the central station to Ostuferhafen which will cost approximately 12.00 Euro.

Check in opens 3 hours before scheduled departure and all passengers must be check in in 1 hour before departure.  ​​

Getting to the terminal by car 

​Drive towards Karlshamn West (Västra), Karlshamn’s ports (Hamnar).Turn off right on the first roundabout, continue 1.2 km. Turn off left (to Södra Stillerydsvägen), continue 1.2 km. The terminal building is in front of you. Passenger check-in is on the second floor.

A taxi from Karlshamns station to the ferry port costing approx. 100 SEK.
Simply call a taxi using the free phone in the station building.

Sailings from Karlshamn depart at 18 and check in at Karlshamn Hamn opens at 15.

Located about 90 km north of the capital, Stockholm, Kapellskär terminal is conveniently located. ​
From Sto​​ckholm, take the E18 to Kapellskar.
From Uppsala take the E4, then take road 77 to Norrtälje, Follow road E18 to Kapellskar.​​

Check-in opens 3 hours prior to departure and closes 90 minutes before sailing.

Getting to the terminal 

The Port of Paldiski is on the Pakri peninsula, which is around 45 kilometers west of Tallinn.
When travelling to the port follow the signs for Paldiski.
Situated in a peninsula of north-western Estonia, the port in Paldiski connects Estonia to Sweden, providing access to both Scandinavia and the Baltic region.
